How to H2O...

Yes it has been some time since I blogged and I did become quite busy...so i stopped writing I promised myself I would put something up at least once a week.

Anyway, Water was one of the subjects I wanted to discuss. I have had varied opinions on this but majority of the people say drink as much as you can someone said to me you should divide your weight in kg by 30 and that is how many litres you should have in a day (for me that would be over 4.5 litres a day...I cant do that!!!).

Also few people told me to drink water as I wake up...as in have 0.5 litre straight away. Another person told me to have 1.5 litres!! I can just about manage the 0.5 litres (thought it is difficult) but cant do the 1.5litre first thing.

Also good news  is that I have been loosing weight not very fast but it is steady in the past month approximately 2kgs a week. Thanks for all the support guys and keep reminding me and keep on top of me...dont let me fall into bad habits. I did have a very unhealthy week and have only been to the gym once in the past week. and have eaten some real rich and greasy food. So I am not going to weigh myself this week!!!

Fat Genes

OK!, so I have not blogged for a few days but I have been busy I spent most of my week last week analyzing (and implementing) information I received through the blog and through conversations with many (thanks all...the support is great)

I know I need to eat less and exercise more. and have been doing exactly that. managed to get in 3 swims at the gym last week lasting around 10-15 mins each. nothing vigorous just casual lenghts freestyle around 8-12. And then straight into the Sauna/Steam room for the same amount of time. Haven't actually been into the dry-gym area (running machines/cross trainer/etc) yet; probably because I don't know what to do.. Need to research that shit though. Any useful advice?

One thing that has bothering me is that if I do take I the weight off, will it stay off? Do i have the fat gene? I know many people who can eat more than me easily but don't put the weight on what is all that about? I have 'fat jeans' at the moment which I am trying to escape, how do I get rid of 'the fat gene'?

Cut your carbs

Cut down on your carbohydrate intake.White Bread, Potatoes', Rice.Reducing these entirely will help you control the size of your belly (with excercise).dont have these during the weekend at all. May be once a week. With excess fat you need'nt worry of starvation.

See this link I am sure there are more on carbs.

Walking in a winter wonderland, well not quite

I took on board comments from some of the posts yesterday and thought I must introduce exercise into my bus lifestyle. And so I took my first step...  literally - I walked to work. yes those of who know me well enough know how much of a challenge that is for me. The walk lasted approx. 40mins for 1.8miles  (i make that 2.7mph :-p) and it was slippery as the snow hasn't melted away on the pavements, so may be not the best days to start. I will try to do it once a week if not twice a week.

However, I did it and my back was hurting when i got into work it is not a good sign. I was reading on my iPhone the whole way, may be it was the posture of my neck. Anyway, just giving a little something to my blog. Also, I came across this article about walking and found it interesting.

Breakfast...'grill-up' not 'fry up'!

Woke up rather hungry this morning..as usual! Was sick of the SpecialK and Bran flakes routine I have been following for a week...so I thought of making a healthy alternative to a fry up breakfast.

It consists of the following (320 calories):
  • grilled tomatoes
  • boiled eggs
  • grilled peppers
  • slice of wholemeal bread - toasted with light olive spread.
  • with fruit (grapes + passion fruit)
  • white tea with one sugar.
Just sliced up the ingredients and put in the George Foreman Grill for 5-7mins. Easy! I ended being full after the first egg and didn't even finish my toast.

Need to chew my food : Slow Food not Fast Food!

Since last week I have made a conscious effort to chew my food...it makes sense. if you can break the food down before it gets into your body it is easier for your body to deal with it. I also found this really useful article about the benefits of eating slowly. I must try to avoid activities like this - check this video out :p

Could it be possible?

I don't know if this is going to be possible... I am thinking of loosing weight and have tried many failed plans, diets and exercise programmes. My weight last week 26/Jan/09 was 148.3kg and my BMI was measured at 51.1, the bmi calculator said I was obese :-p

So here it is a blog to help me loose weight and keep me motivated!
Any tips and advice will  be greatly received.
